**Mild Spoilers**

I am a sucker for horror movies from the 1970s and 80s so when I happened upon this movie I was intrigued, I had to watch it despite never having heard of the movie. Ignoring the low IMDB rating I watched it regardless. For my reward I was greeted to a film much better than I had anticipated.

Pete Giuliani is a police detective, who along with his female partner Katherine, attempt to solve a string of strange murders. The movie begins in Nigeria and some sort of traditional tribal ritual takes place, however, something goes wrong and people start to get killed. The Nigerians take refuge in America, but someone or something has followed them and grisly beheading murders start to occur.  Pete and Katherine receive help from Samuel, a professor, who informs them that the murders are being committed by an evil Nigerian demon who is collecting souls by cutting peoples heads off. What follows is a deadly game of cat and mouse between the police and the evil spirit they are tracking.

The movie is certainly technically better than I had anticipated. The special effects are quite limited but they are good enough to enhance the movie, The plot is slow to get started, but it is consistent and is not laden with plot holes. Generally speaking the acting is of a decent standard, as is the dialogue. The monster at the end has a real Evil Dead look to it, as does the violence, and it just about holds up.

5 out of 10

Summary: Whilst the movie is certainly not one of my favourtites it is far from a bad movie, you could do worse than to watch it given the chance.
