I enjoy horror movies about creatures, be they spiders, bugs or bears. I also think Ray Wise is a very good actor. Chris Marquette also puts in a good performance. Thus, my choice was made easy, I was going to watch it and unless it was awful the chances were I would like it.
As I said before, I like movies about bugs, two of my favourite are Phase IV (1974) and Them (1954). Infestation is a different beast, its not about ants and unlike those movies its most definitely a horror comedy and a decent one at that.
The movie is basically about a slacker named Cooper who is about to be fired from his dead end job. There is a love interest called Sarah. Of course love doesn't run smoothly, particularly when giant bugs are wrapping you up and putting you into a deep sleep.
Cooper is the first to wake up, as he wakes other people up the fun starts. It really is quite a fun movie, light hearted, with funny sometimes touching moments. The acting was good, the plot was standard bug movie stuff but it never felt boring. The thing I would say is the CGI is very ropey. Yes its from 2009, and yes perhaps I just dont like CGI, but some of the scenes were spoilt by it.
If you like horror movies about bugs, and you enjoy a light hearted horror comedy then I would definitely check it out.
