I have to admit I like movies about big foot so a movie about his cold weather cousin the abominable snowman was an easy viewing choice. The movie also features the acting talent of Peter Cushing who looks almost young (was he ever young?). So needless to say I enjoyed the movie.
The movie I should add is in black and white, not that is an issue to me, but some people might care.
Peter Cushing plays the part of a botanist named John Rollason, a former professional climber, who along with his wife are studying mountain plants in the Himalayas. Into this happy harmonious arrangement steps a stereotypical American explorer. As you might guess the expedition want to capture one of these creatures unbeknownst to Dr. Rollason.
Against the wishes of his wife and the tea obsessed Lhama they all set off in search of the creature. I will say no more, suffice to say they find what they are looking for and more.
The acting is pretty good, the characters are believable. We dont see much of the creature until the end, given the age of the film it is a passable attempt. A little goofy perhaps. The final scene of the movie I found interesting, not exactly what I was expecting, and quite clever.
One of the better movies about big foot/abominable snow men. If you are like me, and find these creatures fascinating, this movie will have something that you can enjoy.
