Some movies use stock footage, Shark Attack is more of a nature documentary with a movie mingled in every now and again. The strange thing is, despite the title of the movie it really isnt about sharks. If you want sharks you might as well watch the nature documentary that the stock footage was ripped from. This movie is really, really bad. It isnt even unintentionally funny.
The plot of Shark Attack begins with a man downloading information about shark attacks. He is attacked by two policemen and taken out in a boat and thrown into the water. A shark pops up, well a stock footage shark does something. Another man called Steven, played by Casper Van Dien, and the murdered mans sister go to the African village to investigate. The village in South Africa is on the verge of destruction as the fishermen cant fish and the fishing based economy is collapsing. But why are the sharks so angry? Who knows, who cares, you can watch the movie to find out.
This is a bad movie, the acting is dreadful and Casper Van Dien is not very convincing as the male lead. The two evil policemen are about the best bit of the movie, their crazy evil laughs almost made me laugh. The sharks are stock footage, but the blending of stock footage with film is poor. The movie isnt really about shark attacks, its about greed and a sub plot involving a doctor. The end of the movie reminded me of a James Bond movie, boats, explosion, guns. Still an awful movie no matter how many boats explode.
2 out of 10 (just watch a nature documentary instead)
