**Potential Spoilers**

I like a good horror movie about a Yeti, or a Sasquatch, who doesn't? Snowbeast (1977) ticks all the right boxes for me in terms of potential viewing enjoyment. It is a made for television movie from the 1970's, so it is bound to be full of pure cheese goodness. The cherry on the top of the cheesecake is, however, Clint Walker. Ever since I watched Killdozer I have been a fan of Clint, such a shame that he passed away in May of last year. That aside, Snowbeast proved to be an entertaining made for television horror movie.

The plot of Snowbeast revolves around a ski resort in Colorado and their winter festival. The movie opens with two female visitors to the ski resort being attacked by the "snowbeast". One of the women escapes but the other is violently killed. The eyewitness accounts of a "snowbeast" attack are dismissed. The owner of the ski resort asks her grandson to keep the matter a secret. The local sheriff tells people that it is s bear. There is also a subplot involving an Olympic gold medal ski champion, his wife and her feelings for Tony (the ski resort owners Grandson). I will say no more for fear of spoiling the movie.

On a technical level the movie is what you might expect for a 1970's made for television movie. The cinematography is satisfactory, but far from memorable. The acting was generally good with Clint Walker putting in a strong performance as the local Sheriff. The dialogue is the typical 1970s cheesefest The special effects are as you might expect quite basic, indeed the Snowbeast is not one of the more convincing costumes to have graced the movie screen. Gore hounds will probably be disappointed, as there is not that mich. That said, its not a bad 1970's made for television movie.

6 out of 10

Summary: if you enjoy yetti movies, and you like cheesy 1970's made for television movies then you should find something of value in this movie.
